The teens that sign up for our Fringe Festival camp with Shadow Company will be working every day towards an original production for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. The day starts at 8:45 sharp with a student-led warm-up. Most of the day is spent in rehearsals and refinement of story as campers work with professional artists to create a show worthy of the Fringe Festival. We take a break half-way through for lunch and trips across the street to the corner store for snacks. Our day ends around 3:30pm. For 2021, our daily schedule may change in order to accommodate hybrid programming and space sharing with our other programs. We meet the rest of the summer on Friday evenings to further rehearse. Our Fringe Festival show runs the weekends in September.
Teens (in 9th - 12th grade) are also welcome to sign up for our other summer program: Summer Sort of Thing. Come perform in a full length musical! Campers will learn the basics of stagecraft, design, rehearsal, and refinement as they build a show designed to be seen by a community audience. Each day will consist of rehearsals with the director, music director and choreographer as well as design classes. Campers will experience a multi-run performance, with shows on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (the final weekend of the program). Summer Sort of Thing details are on this page: Details and registration for Summer Sort of Thing
With the move back to in-person programming, we want to make sure you feel confident about your child's participation. You can find the document of our updated Summer Camp Covid policies HERE.
There is no cost to participate in Shadow Company. If you would like to make a donation specifically for Shadow Company to help cover the costs of our staff, you are welcome to do so here.
Fringe Festival camp will culminate in their performances in the Fringe Festival in September. More information will be available after camp.
Of course, after applying for camp through our handy on-line form you might have thought that you were done with forms. But no! Additional forms will be sent to you after registration.
