A Yes! And... Internship: Learning And... Fun
In almost any aspect of collaborative arts education, non-profit organization, marketing, and more.
Are you a self-driven, fun-loving person who has a passion for learning and life? Do you love to learn and feel rewarded by a job well done? Then a Yes! And... internship is truly a win-win situation. You pick an internship model that interests you and your learning needs and we provide you an opportunity to achieve with guidance from our staff of artist educators. For those that qualify, we do offer university credit through your own institution or through Eastern University (pending approval by appropriate faculty and registrar). We will keep this list updated with our most current needs. For "out of season" inquiries (i.e. summer camp positions in the fall) or positions you don't see here but would like to experience, please email or call.
Marketing for "A Winter Sort of Thing"
Event Marketing Intern Definition:
Working under the supervision of the Marketing and Design Director, this intern helps with the marketing and advertisement for Yes! And…’s annual production of “A Winter Sort of Thing” – an original piece of music theatre and event held at Eastern University near Radnor, PA (must have own transportation) on February 3 - February 6, featuring children from all of Yes! And…’s different programs.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Creating and maintaining web-based updates
- Making phone contact with schools and children’s groups in the area for ticket sales
- Completing ticket sales and delivery of tickets (Would be better to have own transportation)
- Providing schools and other groups with advertising information and group rate information
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- An independent, self-motivated work ethic
- Good phone skills
- The ability to learn and disseminate information about Yes! And… and the show, A Winter Sort of Thing.
- Email correspondence at least once a weekday with their marketing superior.
Experience in the following is helpful but not mandatory:
A background in marketing or advertising. A background in the theatre. Any familiarity with digital design including, but not limited to: Photoshop, InDesign, Quark, Flash.

Auction Fundraiser Event
Event Fundraiser Intern Definition:
Working under the supervision of the Auction Coordinator, this intern helps with the organization and coordination of Yes! And…’s Auction for Collaborative Arts fundraiser. This fundraiser is one of the biggest fundraisers of Yes! And…’s fiscal year and is done entirely on-line! It features products and services from all around the Philadelphia area and beyond.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Making phone calls to potential donors and follow-up with those donors for goods and services.
- Creating thank-you notes and receipts for the donors.
- Contacting past donors and soliciting their services for another year.
- Working with local businesses to secure donations.
- Contacting winning bidder to secure payment
- Shipping the gifts to the winning bidder
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- A background working with and meeting deadlines.
- Good phone skills.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Being at ease soliciting donations from strangers.
- Email correspondence at least once a weekday with the Auction Coordinator.
Experience in the following is helpful but not mandatory:
A background or familiarity in working with Dreamweaver, or any other HTML program, A background in marketing or advertising.

Administrative Assistant Intern/Volunteer
Definition:
Working under the supervision of the Co Executive Directors, the administrative Intern performs general secretarial and administrative duties, routine clerical and typing work.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain systems, procedures and methods for record keeping, sending receipts, thank you letters and other merchandise or event items.
- Maintain contact management and database, including inputting giving tracking.
- Interact with vendors, parents, other agencies and public to answer questions, recruit volunteers, register children, schedule speaking engagements and professional development opportunities, solicit donations (in-kind) and to resolve account and billing discrepancies.
- Edit some print material
- Provide a variety of supportive services as directed by an administrative superior.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of personal computers.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of data gathering techniques, such as library research or files analysis, to obtain technical and administrative materials for organizational use.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, planning, records management, research and general administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, employees and public.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Experience in the following is helpful but not mandatory:
Experience with a database program, specifically File Maker Pro.

Summer Theatre Camp “Traveler”
“Traveler” Intern Definition:
Working under the supervision of the Summer Program Director and any Site Specific Artistic Director, this internship is an “artistic counselor” who travels with a group of children in the program. This intern, if appropriate, will also be responsible for planning artistic lessons to teach to campers.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Working directly with children and fully participating in daily activities
- Facilitating lunch, games, and other duties assigned by the Artistic Director
- Attending staff meetings, trainings, site set-up and set builds as necessary
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Experience working with school aged children
- Positive attitude, energetic, punctual
- Any artistic training in the following disciplines: acting, writing, visual arts, singing, musical instrument, dance, yoga, construction, set design, costuming, puppetry, mask making, ensemble building
To be considered for this internship the applicant must:
Be willing to submit to a criminal background check and child abuse history check with the appropriate authorities.
